Draft for review. This page describes the current pre-release app. Backyard Oasis isn’t on the App Store yet, and this page will be updated before launch and whenever the app changes how it handles data.

The short version

• Your yard photos, video, notes and location stay on your iPhone. The current app doesn’t send them to us or anyone else.
• The app doesn’t include ad, tracking or analytics services from other companies.
• We don’t sell your data.
• You can delete everything the app keeps on your phone from inside the app.

What the app collects, on your phone

When you walk your yard, the app saves the photos and video you take, the compass direction, and your GPS location if you allow it. It also saves lot details you enter, such as sizes, slope, sun, fences and materials, along with your notes. The app can use photos you pick from your library for an HOA documents folder. All of this is kept in the app’s storage on your device.

What leaves your phone

The current app makes no network connections of its own. Your photos and lot details are only shared if you share them yourself, for example by exporting a file or sending your plan through the iPhone share sheet. Once you share something, it goes where you send it. If you allow it, the app can also save an export to your photo library.

Yard pictures (AI concepts)

The AI yard pictures service isn’t turned on in the current app, and the app holds no AI service keys. Nothing is sent to an AI provider. If we turn this feature on later, we’ll update this page first and explain what is sent and where it goes.

Sign in with Apple

If you use Sign in with Apple, the app keeps your Apple user ID and the name Apple shares with you, and only on your device. The app doesn’t send them to a server. You can remove Sign in with Apple from your Apple ID in Settings: tap your name, then Sign in with Apple.

Analytics and crash reports

Analytics are off by default, and so are crash reports. Each one has its own switch, and turning one on doesn’t turn the other on. In the current app, events you opt in to are only logged on your device. They never include photos, video, GPS, compass direction, elevation or addresses.

Purchases

Any subscriptions will go through Apple. We don’t receive your payment details.

Deleting your data

In the app, choose Delete all data and confirm. This removes the app’s data from your phone, including saved sessions and their media, the HOA documents folder, your optional email, feedback, saved plans and local logs. Deleting the app also removes its data from your phone.

We don’t sell your data

We don’t sell your personal information or photos.

Website waitlist

The waitlist isn’t open yet. When it opens, joining will store your email address and the time you signed up, and we’ll use them only to tell you about the launch. To stop abuse, the site also briefly keeps a salted hash of your IP address. These records are removed once they’re more than an hour old. You can ask us to remove your email at any time.
